Improving Communication Skills in a Child with Autism
Background:

Emily, a 5-year-old girl diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), struggled with communication and social interactions. Her parents were concerned about her limited verbal skills and difficulty engaging with peers.

ABA Intervention:

Emily began receiving ABA therapy, which included a combination of Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Training (NET). The therapy focused on teaching Emily functional communication skills, such as using words and gestures to express her needs and wants.

Progress:

Over the course of 6 months, Emily showed significant improvements. She learned to use simple phrases to communicate her needs and started engaging more with her family and peers. Her parents reported a noticeable decrease in tantrums and an increase in positive social interactions.

Outcome:

After continuous therapy, Emily was able to communicate effectively in various settings and had developed better social skills. Her parents were thrilled with her progress and felt more confident in supporting her development at home.
